(BCN) -- Several streets in downtown Danville will close Friday for several hours for the annual Lighting of the Old Oak Tree, police reminded the public.The ceremony will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the centuries-old oak tree along Diablo Road. Rescuers in India resume drilling to evacuate 41 construction workers from collapsed tunnel

UTTARKASHI, India (AP) — Rescue teams resumed drilling Friday to reach 41 construction workers who have been trapped in a collapsed tunnel in northern India for nearly two weeks after a mechanical problem the day before delayed the evacuation effort, officials said. The platform of the drilling machine became unstable while boring through rock debris on Thursday, temporarily halting the final phase of digging at the accident site in Uttarakhand state for about 20 hours, state government spokesperson, Kirti Panwar said. Panwar could not say how long it would take to complete the drilling and to bring the construction workers out. They have been trapped since Nov. 12, when a landslide caused a portion of the 4.5-kilometer (2.8-mile) tunnel they were building to collapse about 200 meters (650 feet) from the entrance. 9 vehicle crash closes ramp on C-470

DENVER (KDVR) -- A 9-vehicle car crash closed a ramp on Colorado 470 on Friday morning. The first responders reported icy road conditions.Douglas County Sheriff's Office tweeted at 7:29 a.m. that the westbound C-470 exit ramp to Broadway is closed.The multi-vehicle accident included a rollover on the off-ramp from westbound C-470 to Broadway, according to the South Metro Fire Rescue. China to allow visa-free entry to citizens from 5 EU countries

The Chinese government on Friday announced that French, German, Italian, Dutch, Spanish and Malaysian citizens will be able to travel visa-free to China for a year starting December 1.“China has decided to apply unilateral visa-free policy to more countries on a trial basis, which involves extending visa-free treatment to travelers holding ordinary passports from six countries, namely France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Malaysia,” Chinese foreign ministry’s spokesperson Mao Ning said in a statement.
