St. Paul police open homicide investigation after woman found dead in downtown apartment

St. Paul police are investigating a homicide in a downtown apartment building after a woman was found dead there Friday morning.After a 911 caller asked for a welfare check on the woman, fire department paramedics, followed by police officers, entered the apartment in the Press House building shortly after 9:30 a.m. Friday. They found the woman deceased with obvious signs of trauma on her body, police department spokesman Mike Ernster said Friday night.Officers summoned homicide detectives, who were still at the scene at 345 Cedar St. on Friday night.So far this year, police have been called to the Press House apartments 292 times. A "non-tender" decision essentially means the Cardinals opt not to extend a contract offer to such players for the 2023 season while under team control, leading them to become free agents before the usual service time that would otherwise happen. A Laguna Beach man arrested in the death of 27-year-old Tatum Goodwin used a fire extinguisher to kill her, prosecutors alleged in a new court filing on Friday.The body of Goodwin, who lived in San Clemente, was discovered on Nov. 12 by a construction worker in an alleyway off the 200 block of Ocean Avenue, near Carmelita’s restaurant where she worked.“Her body was under a chain link fence on a construction site and a sandbag had been placed on her head,” prosecutors revealed.Dino Rojas-Moreno, 26, of Laguna Hills was arrested on Wednesday and charged with Goodwin’s slaying.
