“Coroner to the stars” Ed Winter dies at 73  Ed Winter, the Deputy Los Angeles County Coroner who handled the death investigations into some of Hollywood’s biggest celebrities, has died at the age of 73. Winter handled several high-profile death cases during his tenure, including Whitney Houston, Paul Walker, Tom Petty, Brittany Murphy, and most notably, Michael Jackson. He signed Jackson’s death certificate after Jackson’s doctor, Dr. Conrad Murray, who was supposed to sign it, reportedly fled the hospital. He famously said that Jackson had "enough Propofol in him to put down a rhinoceros or an elephant."Winter’s first assignment on his first day on the job was the investigation into the death of Lana Clarkson, who was found to have been murdered by Phil Spector. Winter retired from his position as Deputy L.A. County Coroner in 2019 after nearly 17 years on the job.

Almaden Valley, Rose Garden students’ artworks reveal ‘Unarmed Truth’ Six students from Almaden Valley high schools and one from a Rose Garden area campus are among 83 finalists in the annual ArtNow exhibition at New Museum Los Gatos, aka NUMU.NUMU’s Santa Clara County-wide high school art competition drew entries from more than 800 students from Palo Alto to Gilroy.Leland High School students with artwork in the juried exhibit are Akemi Marcotte and Desiree Vu-de Leon. Pioneer High School is represented by Lynn Choe, Namita Hegde, Eleri Kane and Abigail Kifle. Lincoln High School junior Gillian Birdsong also has a piece in the show.The juried exhibition will be on display from March 31 to June 25 at NUMU, located at 106 E. Three juveniles injured by fireworks on SF's Ocean Beach SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – Three juveniles were taken to a hospital, two of them with serious injuries, after fireworks ignited Saturday night at Ocean Beach, according to a tweet by the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.  Pregnant woman, 2 children stabbed in Antioch At around 8:15 p.m., San Francisco police and US Park police responded to reports of juveniles injured by fireworks. A group of 20-30 juveniles were around a fire on Ocean Beach when several fireworks ignited, GGNRA said. Three of the juveniles were transported to local hospitals. (KTXL) — Over 170 years later, the Gold Rush still isn't over for some Northern California residents. Gold was first discovered in 1848, leading to the California Gold Rush and changing the course of the state and igniting the growth of the West Coast, according to the Library of Congress.All these years later, you can still find people panning for gold.“There’s clubs locally in the area,” Laura Fierro told Nexstar's KTXL. “There’s prospector clubs that get together and do some panning and prospecting as well.” Fierro is involved with gold panning groups in the Sacramento area called River City Prospectors and the Lady Explorers, Adventurers and Prospectors, the latter being an all women-club.
