SAN FRANCISCO — Another Giants top prospect will get to show off his stuff in front of the home crowd.Kyle Harrison will make his Oracle Park debut on Monday against the Cincinnati Reds, manager Gabe Kapler said on Saturday. It’ll be the Giants’ top pitching prospect’s second big league start coming off a tricky debut in hostile Philadelphia.Oddly, the 22-year-old left-handed pitcher gave up a majority of the five hits he allowed to the Phillies’ left-handed hitters — including a home run from former MVP Bryce Harper. He gave up two runs and struck out five in 3 1/3 innings primarily with a strong four-seam fastball up in the zone. With the off day Thursday, Harrison could have made his home debut on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball in the series finale against the Atlanta Braves. His dominance against Philadelphia’s right-handed hitters aside, the Giants saw it best to keep Harrison away from Atlanta’s lineup that holds a league-lead...Police say University of South Carolina student fatally shot while trying to enter wrong home

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Titans know that veteran Ryan Tannehill is their starting quarterback this season. His backup? That’s a decision the Titans aren’t ready to make yet with the preseason over and the season opener Sept. 10 in New Orleans coming up fast. Asked Saturday if he had seen enough to choose either rookie Will Levis or Malik Willis as Tannehill’s backup for the opener, coach Mike Vrabel said, “I don’t think so.” The Titans traded up to No. 33 overall to draft Levis out of Kentucky in April. He missed the final two preseason games with an injured left thigh. Levis practiced Wednesday, warmed up before Friday night’s 23-7 preseason finale win over New England and watched from the sideline as the Titans finished 2-1.Willis also is a quarterback Tennessee traded up to draft at No. 86 overall in 2022 out of Liberty. MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Manchester United came from two goals down to beat Nottingham Forest 3-2 in the English Premier League on Saturday.Bruno Fernandes’ 76th-minute penalty completed a comeback after the visitors went down to 10 men. United had its worst-ever start to a league game. Poor defending helped give Forest lead 2-0 after less than four minutes. Taiwo Awoniyi scored on a counterattack after just 86 seconds, and Willy Boly quickly doubled the lead from a free kick. It was the first time United trailed by two goals four minutes into a league match, but Christian Eriksen pulled one back by converting a cross from Marcus Rashford in the 17th.Casemiro wasted a great chance to level but made amends shortly after halftime when the midfielder slotted home at the end of a clever free kick routine.Joe Worrall was shown a straight red card for denying Fernandes a goalscoring opportunity in the 67th, and the United captain then scored the winner from the spot after Danilo w...Bardet’s DSM wins rainy time trial to start Spanish Vuelta. BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — The DSM–Firmenich team of Romain Bardet won a rainy team time trial through the streets of Barcelona to kick off the Spanish Vuelta on Saturday.Defending champion Remco Evenepoel complained about the poor riding conditions caused by the rainfall and early nightfall. His Soudal-Quickstep and other teams raced in near darkness.DSM marked the best time of 17 minutes, 30 seconds and Lorenzo Milesi will be the first rider to wear the red jersey for the three-week race.Evenepoel was visibly upset when he crossed the finish line, saying, “We are not monkeys in a circus.”The Belgian time trialing world champion was apparently upset that his team, which started last as last year’s winner, had to ride in the darkness due to the clouds that made nightfall come earlier than expected – and provided much needed rain for the drought-stricken area.He said they had “water in the face” and (could not) see “one meter in front of you.”Evenepoel’s Soudal-Quickstep was only six se...Latest news
