SmartAsset, a personal finance website, reviewed 370 suburbs across the 100 largest cities in the U.S. and analyzed them based on multiple safety-related metrics: violent crime rates and property crime rates based on FBI data as well as rates of adults engaging in excessive drinking and deaths related to traffic accidents and drug poisonings from County Health Rankings. ST. LOUIS - Two women were injured Monday in separate shootings in north St. Louis.According to a spokesperson for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the first shooting occurred at 3:20 p.m. near the intersection of East Grand Boulevard and North 20th Street, in the College Hill neighborhood.The 33-year-old victim told police she was sitting in her parked vehicle when a woman approached her and asked for money. The victim said she did not have any money.The person walked away, but returned moments later and fired a shot at the car. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to her leg and the suspect ran away.EMS took the victim to a local hospital. She's listed in stable condition. KANSAS CITY, Kan. (WDAF) – Dayton Borisouth said he was trying to do a good deed by helping his uncle jumpstart his car outside a Walmart in Kansas City, Kansas, on June 1. He had no idea it would soon become the worst day of his life.Borisouth, 24, finished helping his uncle and ran inside the Walmart to purchase a frozen pizza to take home to his wife and 2-year-old daughter. Four-Vehicle Collision in Long Beach Kills 56-Year-Old DriverLONG BEACH, CA (June 13, 2023) – Thursday evening, Thomas Harris was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Pacific Coast Highway.The collision occurred around 7:06 p.m. at the 2300 block of Pacific Coast Highway, between Raymond and Dawson Avenues.Based on the news report, a 2024 Lexus NX250 crossed the eastbound lines while going westbound at Junipero Avenue.Consequently, the SUV collided with three vehicles all traveling in the opposite direction. Dashcam footage revealed that a dark-colored SUV crashed head-on with a Dodge Challenger. SAN JOSE — A woman died in police custody Saturday after she was rejected by Santa Clara County Main Jail medical staff and sent back to a local hospital, police said.In a statement, San Jose police said the woman was arrested on June 6 for an outstanding arrest warrant. During the initial arrest, she told officers she had a medical condition that required a hospital visit. She remained in Santa Clara Valley Medical Center until June 10, when she was discharged by staff.The woman was transported by a San Jose police officer to the main jail, where she was rejected by the medical staff. She was then brought back to the hospital by ambulance, where she later died.Authorities did not release any more information about why the woman had been rejected by jail staff.
