LOS ANGELES (AP) — Singer and rapper Aaron Carter accidentally drowned in his bathtub due to sedatives he'd taken and gas used in spray cleaners he had inhaled, a coroner's report said Tuesday.Carter, the younger brother of the Backstreet Boys' Nick Carter, was found submerged and dead at age 34 in the bathtub of his home in Lancaster, California, on Nov. 5, the autopsy report from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner said. The sedative alprazolam, often sold under the brand name Xanax, was found in his system, as was the compressed gas difluoroethane, which the report says is “a gas commonly used as a propellant in air spray cleaners,” which “can induce feelings of euphoria when inhaled."The two substances made him incapacitated in the tub, and caused the drowning, the report said. The autopsy was performed the day after Carter's death, but the results were withheld for toxicology tests, which often take months.Tax Day 2023: What happens if I don't file my return in time?

Colorado legislators will weigh a slew of hefty changes to a sweeping land-use reform bill Tuesday afternoon, a sign of the depth of opposition facing a marquee piece of legislation championed by Gov. Jared Polis as an answer to the state’s housing crisis. The bill’s supporters have previewed imminent changes to the legislation in the nearly two weeks since the Senate’s Local Government and Housing committee heard roughly 12 hours of testimony on SB23-213 and the impacts it’ll have on the state’s myriad zoning laws. The proposed amendments include carveouts for resort areas and a significant cut to the bill’s initial plan to allow middle housing — like duplexes — to be built on any single-family plot in Colorado cities. Alameda County’s district attorney defended her handling of a deadly, gang-related freeway shooting that claimed the life of a 5-year-old Santa Clara girl earlier this month, after her administration initially declined to file paperwork that could have prolonged the prison sentence of anyone found guilty in the April 8 killing.Standing outside the California Highway Patrol’s office in Hayward, Pamela Price said her administration worked “very diligently” and filed the “appropriate” charges in the killing of Eliyanah Crisostomo, who was shot in the heart on April 8 on Interstate 880 in Fremont.
