Cool down continues for spring break week AUSTIN (KXAN) -- This morning's cold front brought a welcome cool down and lowering of humidity to Central Texas. Still, temperatures still reached above normal with highs in the mid 70s.The cool air will keep pushing into the area with high temperatures only in the 60s to start the work week. Records: Man accused of posing as rideshare driver, kidnapping woman faces 3 charges AUSTIN (KXAN) — An Austin man faces three separate charges after police said he posed as a rideshare driver March 5 and kidnapped a woman in east Austin, according to Travis County court documents.According to records, Little Abe Hill, 40, faces felony charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping and the unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.An APD report said on March 5, at approximately 3:30 a.m. dispatch received a call to the intersection of East 14th Street and Comal Street saying a man in a black sedan abducted a woman at gunpoint and left the scene in the vehicle.The caller said he was in downtown with the woman, and after a night of drinking, they attempted to hail a rideshare.The report claims that a black sedan driven by Hill pulled up to the victims, and believing the vehicle to be a rideshare, they both sat in the backseat. San Jose: Two-alarm fire destroys 1905 house at History Park A two-alarm fire that destroyed a 118-year-old house at San Jose’s History Park early Sunday morning is being examined by the San Jose Fire Department’s arson unit.San Jose Fire Capt. Jeremy Mann said there were no injuries in the fire, which was reported at 3:42 a.m. and also damaged two other structures. One dead in shooting at homeless camp near Oakland Coliseum OAKLAND — A 27-year-old man was shot to death at a homeless camp near the Oakland Coliseum on Sunday, police said.Authorities did not identify the man immediately.Officers were called to the encampment in the 8100 block of Baldwin Street about 9 a.m. and found the man shot more than one time, police said. An ambulance took him to a hospital, but emergency personnel there pronounced him dead about 9:45 a.m.Police said they don’t know if the man was living at the camp or just visiting. Police said they don’t have a motive. They did not announce any arrests.The homicide is the 21st of 2023 investigated by Oakland police. Flooding causes I-880 closure in Fremont FREMONT, Calif. (KRON) -- Flooding from the most recent rain has closed a portion of Interstate 880, according to the California Highway Patrol. Newsom working with federal government after fall of Silicon Valley Bank I-880 just south of Thornton Avenue is closed on both the north and southbound sides. CHP is currently on the scene working with Caltrans. Drivers are asked to avoid the area. The northbound side is expected to be impacted for at least 10 hours, CHP says. 30 dogs pulled from hoarding situation in Pueblo PUEBLO, Colo. (KDVR) - Multiple dog rescue organizations across the state, along with Animal Law Enforcement in southern Colorado, worked Saturday to pull 30 dogs from a hoarding situation at a home in Pueblo. "This is a smaller home. A two-bedroom with 40 dogs inside it," Suzanne Morgan, Director of Cooper’s Companions Animal Rescue said. Morgan's rescue led the way in pulling 30 of the 40 dogs from the home. She said 10 of the dogs stayed with the owner on the property, and that some of the rescues are planning on going back to the home to spay and neuter the dogs that stayed with their owner. Are people already waiting in line for Casa Bonita to reopen? “We're going to make sure those dogs are spayed and neutered so we aren't back there in six months with more dogs," Morgan said.
