Logan Webb outduels Framber Valdez as SF Giants take series from defending World Series champs

HOUSTON — The Giants did not arrive here in high spirits, suffering from stomach bugs, muscle strains and a losing streak, but they will head home feeling much better, not only because most of the nasty virus players and staff picked up in Mexico City had mostly subsided.Behind an excellent outing from Logan Webb and a late-awakening offense, the Giants hung on to win their second straight over the defending World Series champions, 4-2, and earned their third series win of the season. The Astros, who had not been shut out until this series, were held without a run for 17 consecutive innings, until Alex Bregman took Webb deep in the eighth inning, ending the Giants’ bid for a second consecutive shutout.Webb needed 46 pitches to make it through the first two innings, mostly due to Mitch Haniger muffing a pop fly in left field and LaMonte Wade Jr. letting a ground ball under his glove, but he used the exact same amount as he cruised through the next five innings.Outdueling Astros ...Adorable mountain lion pals leaving Oakland for forever home; elephant seeking new friends

(KRON) -- Two mountain lions that were rescued as cubs in separate parts of Santa Cruz County will arrive at their new forever home Thursday. The mountain lions, named Hazel and Holly, became inseparably bonded with each other while they were rehabilitated for months at the Oakland Zoo. The Oakland Zoo has one of the top cougar cub rescue facilities in California. Zoo officials wrote Wednesday, "It’s Cub Departure Day Eve — hard to believe we’ll soon be saying goodbye to Hazel and Holly. They’ve come so far, from being critically ill rescues to bonded, thriving young mountain lions. We want to acknowledge everyone who helped rescue, rehabilitate, and raise these orphaned cubs. It has clearly taken a village to care for these two, and we appreciate everyone’s efforts along the way."Holly and Hazel bonded as they grew up together at the Oakland Zoo's wildlife rescue center. LONDON (AP) — Since 1956, the Eurovision Song Contest has provided catchy tunes, cheesy pop and bombastic anthems — but also some eye-catching fashion. One of the most memorable competitors in Eurovision history was heavy metal band Lordi, who donned monster prosthetics and won for Finland in 2006 with “Hard Rock Hallelujah.”“It was a blessed victory on so many levels,” said lead singer Mr. Lordi (aka Tomi Petteri Putaansuu), “and of course it was the first time that some really pretty people won.”In some cases, the fashion outshines the song: Glam metal outfit Wig Wam, Norway’s entry in 2005, only finished in ninth place, but the band’s lead singer drew much attention in an extremely figure-hugging star spangled jumpsuit. Familiar faces and outlandish looks don’t necessarily hold sway with judges. Twin duo Jedward — John and Edward Grimes — represented Ireland in 2011 and the following year. In 2012, they finished sixth at the contest in Baku, Azerbaijan, wearing matching robo...Myriad: Q1 Earnings Snapshot
